RECENTLY FILED – FIFTH THIRD UIT

Colling Gilbert Wright & Carter have recently filed a FINRA arbitration claim on behalf of an investor who purchased the First Trust Municipal Income Plus Closed-End Portfolio through Fifth Third Securities, Inc.

Our firm has recently filed a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA)arbitration claim on behalf of an investor who purchased shares of the First Trust Municipal Income Plus Closed-End Portfolio unit investment trust (UIT) through Fifth Third Securities, Inc.The claim alleges misrepresentations and omitted material information in the solicitation and sale of shares in the First Trust Municipal Income Plus Closed-End Portfolio Unit Investment Trust (“UIT”).  The UIT was solicited and sold as a secure, income producing vehicle without risk to principal. However the UIT lost nearly 20% of its value in a very short period of time, partially due to a very high up-front commission payout to the selling broker.  We believe Fifth Third Securities and its representatives should have known this high commission paying “alternative investments” was not appropriate investment for the Claimant but sold the product anyway.
