Securities Class Action Settlements at Sixteen Year Low
Cornerstone Research released a report Monday stating that combined settlement dollars from securities class actions suits dipped to $1.1 billion in 2014, a 16-year low caused be a substantial drop in average settlement amounts despite a similar number of overall deals from the year before. Cornerstone cited a sixty percent drop in estimated shareholder losses which is the leading variable in predicting future class settlements.
